Contacts can be added in Snappy Kraken individually or in bulk through an import process. Either way, ensure that you only add valid, fully engaged recipients. Find out how a bad contact list affects your deliverability rate here.

Adding an Individual Contact

  1. On the left-side menu, click on "My Contacts."
  2. Click on the "Add Contacts" button on the right-hand side of the screen.
  3. Select "Add individual contacts."
  4. Fill in the fields with the contact’s information as completely as possible.
  5. When you’re done, click Continue and then Save.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

  • Adding a contact with the email address of a previously archived contact will result in a server error.  Please check the article How to Archive Contacts on how to view your archived contacts to confirm, if you're encountering this issue.
  • Unless the group has the Auto-subscribe feature enabled, adding a contact to an existing group will not automatically subscribe new contacts to campaigns that the group is subscribed to. To subscribe new group members to campaigns, read this article.

Importing Many Contacts

You can import many contacts from a file or your CRM. The below instructions will walk you through importing from a file. For instructions on importing from your CRM, please visit this link.

I. Importing from a File

  1. On the left-side menu, click on "My Contacts."
  2. Click on the "Add Contacts" button on the right-hand side of the screen.
  3. Select "Import Many Contacts".
  4. Click Continue with File Import.
  5. Upload your file by either clicking to upload or dragging and dropping it into the box.
    Supported file types include .csv
  6. Click Continue to Organize, and then Continue to Map Columns.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

  • If your file contains the email addresses of existing contacts, they will be moved to the group you assign it to during the most recent import.
  • An import containing the email address of an already archived contact will result in an import failure. Ensure your list is clean. For more information on how to view your archived contacts, click here.
  • Any special characters in your file will cause an import failure. To avoid issues, ensure that your files only contain periods or hyphens.

II: Mapping Columns

  • Snappy Kraken will automatically try to match the columns in your file with its fields.
  • If any columns aren’t automatically matched, you can manually map them.

  • When you're ready, click Continue to Assign Groups.

III: Assigning Groups

  • Search for or create new Snappy Kraken groups for your contacts.

  • By default, you'll find groups such as Clients and Prospects.

Note:

  • Unless the group has the Auto-subscribe feature enabled, adding a contact to an existing group will not automatically subscribe new contacts to campaigns that the group is subscribed to. To subscribe new group members to campaigns, read this article.

IV: Finalize the Import

  • Agree to the import terms and click Finalize Import.

  • Depending on the file size, the import process may take a few minutes.
