Status tells you if a contact has unsubscribed. There are three distinct ways a contact can unsubscribe from individual campaigns.
Unsubscribe Versus Global Unsubscribe
There are two distinct ways contacts can unsubscribe from emails.
- Unsubscribe This unsubscribes a contact from a single campaign.
- Global Unsubscribe This unsubscribes a contact from all campaigns.
Additionally, our Campaigns platform will also automatically unsubscribe contacts that encounter the following deliverability result to avoid further tarnishing your email and domain reputation. A negative reputation results in emails going to spam or getting blocked altogether.
Bounce
The contact's email server rejected the email. This can happen for various reasons, such as the email inbox being full or the message being declined for "sensitive topics."
Suppress Bounce
The email is bouncing because the email address being sent to is undeliverable.
Complained
The contact flagged the email as spam. Once a contact marks an email as spam, they will also be globally unsubscribed (see below) from campaigns moving forward.
Managing Unsubscribes
You do not need to do anything extra for contacts that have globally unsubscribed. The Snappy Kraken platform will no longer attempt to send those contacts anything, even if they are in a subscribed group.
Important Note: Do NOT delete unsubscribed contacts for the platform. Doing so may result in contacts being mistakenly re-subscribed.
