If you’ve tried adding a video (like a YouTube link) using the visual builder and found that it doesn’t play within the email itself, here’s why.

Why don’t videos play inside emails?

Most major email clients like Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, and others do not support embedded video playback directly within the body of an email. This is due to security, spam protection, and compatibility concerns across different devices and platforms.

What to do instead?

Since videos can’t play directly inside emails, the best alternative is to use a clickable image that links to your video. To make it look like a video preview, you can upload a custom image (such as a screenshot or thumbnail with a play button overlay) and link that image to your YouTube video.

Here’s how:

  1. Take a screenshot or use a thumbnail image from your video.

  2. Upload the image using the image block in the visual builder.

  3. Click the image, then use the link icon to add your YouTube video URL.

  4. Save and preview your email. When your subscribers click the image, it will open the video in a new tab.

This method is widely supported, increases click-through rates, and ensures your email looks great across all inboxes.
