Why Email Link Clicks Are Tracked, Even When Opens Aren’t
When sending email campaigns, it's common to track both opens and link clicks to measure engagement. However, there are times when you’ll see link clicks being recorded without a corresponding open. This might seem contradictory, but here’s why it happens—and why it’s expected.
The Difference Between Opens and Clicks
Email Open Tracking relies on a tiny, invisible image (called a tracking pixel) that is loaded when a recipient opens the email.
Link Click Tracking works by routing the recipient through a tracking server before sending them to the actual URL.
These are two independent mechanisms, and they behave differently depending on how the recipient interacts with their email.
